Project 3- Nature

Nature... it's all around us and is part of our lives. Nature can be interpreted in many different ways, so for this project I decided to interpret the concept of nature with sand. This is based off of the sand mandalas and aboriginal art, but with a bit of my own touch.

These are the following materials I needed for this project:

-play sand
-colored sand
-shadowboxes
-filter tubes
-plastic bag
-paper towel (I probably don't have to use this, could've used something else)

I ended up making three pieces, however, my methods for doing each was a little different. For the first piece I used a nail to set my design and draw some borders, there was a bit of trial and error.

For the second piece, I decided to use my hands instead, since the nail wasn't really working for me, this also felt a bit more natural.

For the third piece, I didn't really set up a design. I was a bit curious, so I mixed in the colored sand with the play sand; which resulted in this image below. Afterwards, I just want with what I felt like adding into the now colored canvas below.

Eventually, I decided to make a small sand art piece and was at the time trying to do something with it at first... but it didn't work out. I got a little frustrated and was erasing the mistake, that was until I made an imprint of my hand. After that I decided to fill in the imprint, and add in a small design to the piece.

These were the final results, despite the project being over I'll probably continue doing this as a hobby.
